Professional Profile

Dr. Jeffery Young serves as Associate Director of Extension, Director of County Operations. A native of White Mills, Kentucky in Hardin County, Jeff grew up on a small farm and was active in FFA while attending West Hardin High School. Jeff has a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics, focusing on finance and credit, from the University of Kentucky, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Louisville and a PhD in Education Leadership and Organization Development from the University of Louisville.

His duties include, providing leadership for all aspects of budget development and management of expenditures in Extension Field Programs, Program and Staff Development and Extension Human Resources, including development of annual county funding guidelines, calculating county district tax rates and developing county memoranda of agreement. In addition, Jeff provides leadership to the State Extension Advisory Council and Extension Administrative Team.

Prior to his current role, Jeff served as the District 3 Director for six years and a 4-H Youth Development Agent in Jefferson and Bullitt Counties for 20 years. Jeff is also active national and regional Extension organizations, serving as 2016 Chair of the Southern Region Middle Managers Committee, past Treasurer of National Association of Extension Program and Staff Development Professionals and member of the National Urban Extension Leaders steering committee.
