Workforce Development

America is experiencing significant changes to the labor force. Aging employees, technological advancement, attitudes toward work, and lack of workforce support systems are just a few of the factors driving these changes. The Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service is working with individuals, communities, and businesses to build a strong and sustainable economy proactively addresses these changes and helps the Commonwealth thrive! Extension programs are defining the skills needed to be “career ready”, cultivating early career planning, working with communities to provide work-based learning, and aligning programs with local labor needs. This page captures the programs, events, information, and impact of Cooperative Extension’s engagement with workforce development.

University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension plays a pivotal role in workforce development by providing targeted educational programs and resources that enhance the skills and knowledge of individuals, aligning them with the evolving demands of the job market.
